"Psalm 33:12 - Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord...."
Port Royal is located at the mouth of the Kingston Harbour, in southeastern Jamaica. It was a popular homeport for the English and Dutch sponsored privateers to spend their treasure during the 17th century. Many privateers later became independent pirates and used the city as their main base of operatios during the subsequent heyday of the Caribbean pirates.
All that's now left of the city is its fort and a building which is intact but hass been cockeyed from the effects of the earthquake of 1692. After this disaster, Port Royal's commercial role was steadily taken over by the town and later the city of Kingston. It was fully destroyed by subsequent fires, hurricanes, flooding, and another earthquake in 1907 so that all that remains is its ancient fort.
